| Gog was one of the few survivors of the destruction of Topeka, Kansas, during the battle with Imperiex. He was saved by Superman, but Superman was unable to rescue the boy's parents. Desperate to fix what had gone wrong, Gog grew up researching the science of time travel, all in an effort to go back in time and rescue his family. |
| Eventually, he succeeded in his efforts at creating a time machine, but his first prototype was unable to travel far enough back. For over 200 years, he refined his design, making it more and more powerful, using the technology to alter himself and give him unbelievable power. He began to deliver his research and advanced technology to younger versions of himself, giving him even more power by rewriting history, over and over. Eventually, his desire grew from saving his parents to punishing the man who had failed to save them in the first place - Superman. |
