| Zaxton Regulus took a job at Metropolis Fusion Power’s main branch, under the directorship of Derek Morgana, to be close to a power source for his experiments with radioactive gold. As he grew more intensely involved with the gold, he also grew sloppier in his work habits, neglecting several safeguards. When two young lab assistants made their monthly supply delivery, a careless accident caused an explosion, which killed one boy and injured both Regulus and the other, Dirk Morgana. Regulus anger at having his experiment ruined was compounded when he was fired by Dirk’s father. Furious he vowed to kill Dirk, he reprogrammed several of the power plant’s robot’s to enter the atomic reactor, carrying the unconscious Dirk Morgana inside, but what was to be his revenge instead turned Dirk into Sun Boy. Regulus went into hiding, creating a suit of armour with tremendous solar powers, he re-emerged years later as Doctor Regulus and began hunting Sun Boy. |
