Molecular Reconstruction: Rex can transmute his body to any of a wide variety of elemental compounds and form it to his will. Originally, he was limited to the elements which occur naturally in the human body. Over time, this limitation seems to have disappeared. He can alter the shapes and consistencies of these elements and combine them to form complex compounds. Rex can assume forms of gas, liquid or solid states.
Metamorphosis: Metamorpho can also shape parts and portions of his body instead of the whole. He can form such complex shapes as a tank and a bicycle and such simple forms as a cloud or a spring.
Body Armour: The nature of Rex's body provides him with natural body armour offering damage resistance from blunt attacks and energy attacks.
Elasticity: Rex can stretch, bounce, elongated and manipulate his body as if it were made of plastic.
Black Power Ring: The Black Lantern Rings are capable of wielding the black energy outside of the Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum. When Black power rings choose wearers, they present themselves to the deceased without a charge. The rings (which constantly ask for "flesh") are recharged by killing living beings and removing their hearts; each heart restores .01 percent power to every ring in the Corps. Black Lanterns are also able to read the emotions of the living as a coloured aura that correlates to the emotional spectrum (red for rage, violet for love, etc.). Black Lantern Rings will regenerate a corpse each time it is damaged, they can create constructs, but this ability is rarely used and they allow flight.
The origins of the Black Lantern known as Metamorpho were traced to the events highlighted in the Blackest Night Prophecy which stated that a great calamity would befall the cosmos that would bring about the end of the Guardians of the Universe as well as their great work. Over the years, this time slowly came to pass as Nekron, Lord of the Unliving set about his plans to bring about The Black onto the universe in order to purge it of all life in order to return it to its original state before The White Light emerged. Following the War of Light as the various aspects of the Emotional Spectrum were harnessed, The Blackest Night came to pass with Black Lantern Power Ring's being let loose onto the known worlds. These Power Ring's sought out the dead and reanimating them in order to turn them into undead members of the Black Lantern Corps who served only Nekron. Those that were resurrected included both heroes and villains who swelled the ranks of the Black Lanterns with Metamorpho being one of the many recipients of the Black Power Ring.
