Enhanced Abilities: Ultramax has super human strength, durability and endurance. | |||||||
Quantum Field Manipulation: Ultramax's powers are derived from his ability to manipulate the Quantum Field, which enables him to absorb and wield theoretically infinite amounts of energy, limited by his willpower and imagination. He is just beginning to learn how to use his abilities. He can control and absorb virtually any form of energy. He can use the energy as life support and sustenance. He can project powerful blasts of energy and can fly faster than the speed of sound in Earth's atmosphere and up to half-light speed in the vacuum of space. Theoretically he may even be able to create force fields and travel in time in a similar way to Captain Atom. |

Max Thrane was a professional assassin and condemned murderer at the Ultra-Max penitentiary. On the day of his execution, the cell block he was being executed in was hit by a "Quantum Flare", a runaway burst of energy from Captain Atom. The Quantum energy combined with the 2,000 volts of the electric chair, multiplying it many times, placing Thrane in suspended animation in a 'Temporal Warp Bubble'. Five years later, Captain Atom was brought to the facility in order to neutralise the 'Warp Bubble' and release him, however Thrane was able to control the quantum energy coming from Captain Atom, using his body as a conduit to the unlimited energy of the quantum field, absorbing the energy and transforming himself into Ultramax. |
