Magnetic Field Manipulation: Pestilence has the ability to manipulate magnetism. She has the ability to lift and manipulate metal. She has shown such fine tuned skills as to nearly liquefy, mend, and reconstruct metallic objects, and has some level of influence on the ferrous metals that reside in everything. She can also create force fields, fly, create magnetic pulses and absorb some forms of energy.
Negative Emotion Absorption: Pestilence can absorb negative emotional energy to transform her into a virtual powerhouse.
Meta-Plague Manipulation: Pestilence has the ability to ingest and synthesize new plagues without harm, controlling the virulence and particular genetic markers. She is then capable of releasing the virus or plague as a combined mutated strain or as the various separate plagues they originally were.
Lorna Dane is a mutant, born with green hair and magnetic abilities that developed during puberty, whose parents, she believed, died in a plane crash when she was an infant. Lorna was adopted, but grew up thinking her foster parents were her aunt and uncle until she was informed of the truth when she was almost twenty years old. Lorna's foster parents hid the truth, fearing it was cause her extreme stress and trauma.
Iceman met the young Lorna Dane after she was identified as a mutant by Cerebro’. Lorna's magnetic powers emerged when she was controlled by Mesmero and subjected to a 'mutant energy stimulator' device. Lorna and Magneto were convinced that they were father and daughter, due to the similar natures of their powers (this later proved to be true). Lorna turned against Magneto, who was revealed to be a robot double. Lorna returned home with the X-Men and, eventually, joined the team.
Lorna served on and off with the X-Men and various teams before being captured by Apocalypse. When Apocalypse made Lorna an offer of power as his horseman of Pestilence, she refused, but was eventually tempted to join him. Mind-wiped, she ingested viruses from the World Health Organization and became his Horseman.
