The son of Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of Crime, Richard Fisk grew up believing his father's lies about his true occupations. Claiming to be nothing more than a humble dealer in spices, Wilson fooled his son until a few years ago when Richard, now fully grown learned the truth, and out of rage and horror, assumed the identity of the Schemer in an attempt to bring his father down, while wearing a mask that gave him the appearance of an older man with greying hair. Richard was unsuccessful in his initial outing, and he quickly gave up the identity of the Schemer and settled into a highly placed position in the criminal group known as Hydra. In his new place with Hydra, Richard had a run in with Captain America, an encounter that left Richard gravely injured, and placed in suspended animation until he could be helped. Using his criminal influence, the Kingpin arranged for Richard's resurrection, but it would be done through the use a machine that would transfer Spider-Man's life energy into Richard. Though little of Spider-Man's energy was taken, it was enough to get Richard back on his feet, and he left with his mother Vanessa, both under the assumption that Wilson Fisk had been crushed in an ensuing battle with Spider-Man. |
