| Doctor Wladyslav Shinski was once a brilliant scientist who joined other scientists of similar skill levels and goals in forming the Enclave, an organization dedicated to the creation of life itself in hopes of creating a better Earth. Shinski shares the early history of the group, including the creation of Him (now, Adam Warlock) and Her (later, Kismet, and now Aeysha,) and the resurrection of the mutant Jean Grey, who had been placed in a cocoon by the cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force. |
| Under circumstances not fully revealed, Shinski left the Enclave, and killed his associate Dr. Morlak. Shinski had at this time developed his own powers, claiming to have become a master of the medieval mystic art of alchemy. It is presumed that Shinski developed these powers by following a similar quest for power by the evil scientist, Doctor Doom, and is suspecting of massacring the Tibetan monks who helped grant him this power and his armour. |
| Shinski kidnapped two reporters who were investigating the Tibetan massacre and used them to confront heroic scientist Mr. Fantastic at a symposium in Europe. It was here he made his first public appearance as the villain Crucible. |
