Clayface originally possessed no super human powers, he was however a superb athlete and a fierce hand-to-hand combatant due to his insanity. Clayface has since gained a claybody. | |||||||
Claybody: Clayface’s body is made out of a clay like substance that allows bullets to pass through him essentially making invulnerable to physical damage. He is also able to project parts of his body and change shape so that he can take on his original appearance or that of anyone else. |

The original Clayface is Basil Karlo, the star of numerous horror movies, most notably the original version of The Terror. Many years after Karlo's career had essentially ended, director Morris Bentley asked the actor to serve as a consultant on his remake of The Terror. Karlo agreed, but was outraged by the idea that his greatest film role would be remade with another actor playing the role he created. Karlo planned to take vengeance by murdering the film's cast members. He adopted the identity of Clayface to try to mislead Batman and the Police. |
